Talk about a secret wedding! Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively got married this weekend and surprised everyone, including yours truly. And this was no drunken run to Vegas that will end up in my list of shortest celebrity marriages. No, this was a full-on wedding at a southern plantation, complete with tent, celebrity band, a couture wedding dress, and more.
The actor couple have only been dating for a year. At the time it seemed like a short rebound relationship for both — Reynolds had just gotten divorced from Scarlett Johansson and Lively had just ended her intense relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio. When they bought a house together in Westchester, it made everyone realize that this wasn’t going to be so short lived, and started whispers about when they might get engaged. But almost no one realized a wedding would happen so soon!
Blake and Ryan got married Sunday night at Boone Hall Plantation (pictured above) just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. Under a white tent, they and their 60 guests danced to the music of Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine), and ate cake driven down from Virginia.
Since Blake Lively is an ambassador for Chanel, everyone assumed she wore a Chanel wedding dress, perhaps this one from their recent runway show:
But this morning, the Martha Stewart Weddings team spilled the beans.
It seems that the mag worked with Blake and her wedding planner to make this celebrity wedding even more special. In a blogpost, they said
The bride and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle in custom Marchesa gowns designed by Blake’s friends, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, with shoes created for the celebration by Christian Louboutin. The groom and groomsmen wore specially made Burberry suits with custom leather suspenders designed by the groom’s friend, Christopher Bailey. The couple exchanged unique wedding rings by Lorraine Schwartz.
Marchesa also released details about her custom-designed gown – “a hand-draped silk tulle bodice adorned with custom crystal and rose gold embroidery.” The bridesmaids wore “custom-made blush silk chiffon gowns with crystal embroidered detail.”
But for more details and pictures, you’ll have to wait for the Martha Stewart Weddings winter issue in December.
